I3 ·三人成虎
No tiger. Three reports. A changed belief.
In this old Chinese story, a minister asks a king how many reports it would take to make him believe there is a tiger in a busy market.
01A tiger in the market?
One person reports a tiger. The king doubts it.
02The same claim, again.
A second person repeats it. Then a third.
03A rumour begins to feel real.
The king believes the reports, without seeing a tiger.
三人成虎Repeated rumours can be mistaken for the truth.
There is no tiger in the market.
More voices. More evidence?
Your child traces how the belief changes, then asks what evidence would be needed before accepting a claim.
